After taking the first 2 games of series, the Phillies were looking for the series sweep in the series finale on Sunday. The Pitching matchup was Cole Hamels vs. Paul Maholm. Ryne Sandberg made some changes to lineup by having Cesar Hernandez lead off & playing in Center, Ruf in Right Frandsen at 1st, Asche at 3rd Galvis in left, Kratz Catching.  
 
In the 1st inning , Cesar Hernandez got picked off at 1st base, the games 1st runs came from the Phillies in the 1st inning when  Chase Utley hits a double to center scoring Jimmy Rollins for an early 1-0 lead, then Darin Ruf singles to center scoring Chase Utley for a 2-0 lead. The Braves get on the board when Evan Gattis hits a BOMB to deep center field that landed in Ashburn Alley to cut Phillies lead to 2-1 in the 2nd inning. The Braves would tie the game at 2 when Gattis hit another deep solo home run in the 7th inning, the Phillies responded in the 8th inning when Darin Ruf lead off the inning by hitting a solo home run for a 3-2 lead. B. J. Rosenberg comes in and throws a 1-2-3 inning as the Phillies hold on for a 3-2 lead & Sweep the braves for 1st time since September 2011; this was the Phillies 1st sweep since sweep of the Marlins in June. B. J. Rosenberg would pick up his 1st MLB Save.

Cole Hamels went 8 innings, 2 hits 2 runs 2 Walks, 9 Strikeouts on 99 Pitches. Braves Paul Maholm went 6 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, 5 strikeouts on 108 pitches. The Phillies will open a 3 game series with the San Diego Padres on Tuesday Sep 10

Cody Asche Lifts Phils Over Braves

After losing 2 of 3 to the Washington Nationals, the Phillies opened a 3 game weekend series against the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park. The Pitching matchup was Cliff Lee vs. Braves Mike Minor. Ryne Sandberg made some changes to lineup by having Cesar Hernandez lead off & playing in Center, Carlos Ruiz batting 4th, Darin Ruf batting 5th & playing 1st base, Freddy Galvis in left field.  
 
Cliff Lee & Mike Minor were going head to head & matching each other pitch by pitch. The Games 1st hit came from the Braves Chris Johnson with a base hit to left in the 2nd inning. Jimmy Rollins got the Phillies first hit of game in the 4th inning with a single to right, then gets thrown out at 2nd base trying to extend it to a double. The game first runs came in the 3rd inning when Braves Andrelton Simmons hits a solo home run to left for a 1-0 lead. Cliff Lee & Mike Minor would continue their pitcher duel. The Phillies would take the lead in the bottom of 7th inning when Cody Asche hits a 2 run home run, scoring Darin Ruf for a 2-1 lead. Cliff Lee would throw a 1-2-3 inning in the 8th; Jonathan Papelbon would come in and throw a scoreless 9th inning as the Phillies hold on for a 2-1 win.

Cliff Lee would go 8 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, 10 strikeouts on 103 pitches. Braves Mike Minor went 7 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 9 strikeouts on 102 pitches.
