After going 3-7 on recent 10 game road trip, The Phillies return home to open a 3 game series vs. Washington Nationals from Citizens Bank Park, The Scheduled pitching matchup was John Lannan vs. Nationals Dan Haren . Charlie Manuel made changes to lineup; Kevin Frandsen got start at 2nd Base, Humberto Quintero Got start behind the plate.
John Lannan first pitch to Nationals .Jeff Kobernus was a Strike. The first runs of game came in the top of 1st inning when Nationals Jayson Werth hits single to left scoring Anthony Rendon for an early 1-0 lead, the Phillies get on the board in the bottom of 2nd inning when Ryan Howard hits solo homerun that landed in the upper deck to tie the game at 1. The Phillies would add 2 more runs in the 3rd inning when Delmon Young doubles to right scoring Michael Young & Jimmy Rollins for a 3-1 Phillies lead. The Nationals get a run in the 4th inning when Steve Lombardozzi doubles to right scoring Kurt Suzuki to cut Phillies lead to 3-2. The Phillies would add another run in the bottom of 5th inning when Ryan Howard singles to right scoring Ben Revere for a 4-2 Phillies lead. The Nationals would add another run in the top of 8th inning when Ian Desmond singles to center scoring Ryan Zimmerman to make it 4-3 Phillies lead. The Nationals tie the game in 9th inning when Chad Tracy hits solo home run to tie the game at 4, this was Jonathan Papelbon 1st blown save of the season. The Phillies would win the game in the bottom of 9th inning when Domonic Brown hits single to center scoring Ben Revere for a 5-4 Phillies win. This was Domonic Brown first career walk off win.
