After losing the first 2 games of series without scoring a run, the Phillies & Dodgers played final game of 3 game series from Citizens Bank Park. The Pitching matchup was Cole Hamels vs. Dodgers Ricky Nolasco. Interim Manager Ryne Sandberg made changes to the lineup, Michael Martinez leads off & playing shortstop, Kevin Frandsen at 1st base, bats 2nd, Casper Wells in center, Gave Rollins, Young, & Mayberry the day off. The game was Broadcasted Nationally on TBS with Ernie Johnson & John Smoltz, but was blacked out in Philly, Shown Locally on PHL 17.
The Game 1st hit came from Dodgers Nick Punto in the 1st inning with a single to center; the game 1st runs came in the top of 2nd when Andre Ethier hits a solo home run for an early 1-0 lead. The Phillies 1st hit came from Domonic Brown to lead off the bottom of 2nd. Cole Hamels Strikes out Yasiel Puig to start 4th inning, the Dodgers would add another in the inning when Jerry Hairston singles to left scoring Andre Ethier to make it 2-0 Dodgers. The Phillies finally score a run in the series in the bottom of 4th inning when Darin Ruf hits a solo home run to cut the Dodgers lead to 2-1.
The Phillies would tie the game at 2 in the 6th inning with the bases loaded for Cody Asche, Asche grounds into a force out scoring Chase Utley. Cole Hamels would keep the heat on the dodgers to get the game tied at 2. B.J. Rosenberg throws a scoreless 8th inning, Jonathan Papelbon throws a scoreless 9th inning, Jimmy Rollins pinch it for Jonathan Papelbon in 9th & Dodgers would intentional walk Jimmy Rollins to load the bases for Pinch-hitter Michael Young who replaces Michael Martinez. The Phillies would win the game when Michael Young reaches on a fielding error by shortstop Hanley Ramirez scoring Casper Wells, Phillies win 3-2 & end the Dodgers 10 game winning streak and give Interim Manager Ryne Sandberg his 1st manger win in MLB. Cole Hamels had 3 successful sacrifice bunt after Carlos Ruiz reached base.
